Alright. Keep in mind this is only a rough job here (some quickly-cut spots are obvious, lol), but I can fine tune it if the staff likes the design. Just not going to waste the time doing it if you don't like it...
I also have a version with a transparent background.
And finally, I don't claim to be amazing (or even good for that matter) at this stuff. This was just to practice my skills.

EDIT: A better-sized version with more "natural" perspectives, rather than just two-tone colors.

Hope you like :]
Was debating if I should wait and see what happens, or just post these. In the end, as you can see, I decided to post them.
I can provide the XCF later on if needed, as well as PNG versions.

Appropriate usage of negative space for readability and to keep the main focus of the logo on 'Rizon'. The catch-phrase 'where are you?' is kept in the width of 'Rizon' to make it the second read bit. No negative space used on the catch phrase to keep some contrast with 'Rizon'. IRC and NET are left to signify and reinforce the idea that Rizon is a IRC network to new users that may be visiting. The two URL sections are rotated vertically to not detract from the focus of the logo. They remain within range of the catch-phrase, in the corner of the viewer's eye when the phrase is read.
The colours used were kept within Rizon's official colours. A darker navy was chosen to increase the contrast in the logo to create more of an impact in the short time a viewer actually spends time looking at the logo before continuing to scan downwards. This dark navy is also suitable to be used as the font colour for text and headings, being visually distinct from black enough to be blue, but also dark enough to be read easily.

Meh, last entry.
Cant figure out how to use the other filters.
>.>
pulled this up yesterday; gimmie some feed back and i'll see what i can do.
i know its ugly right now ;P
http://i39.tinypic.com/124ez50.jpg
hahahah!
Awesome, even tho the "where are you" is kinda obscured.
Code:public boolean isPersonSmart(Person p) {
if (p.getLocation() != "Rizon") {
//Person is NOT on Rizon, therefore they are STUPD!
return false;
}
//Person is on Rizon, therefore they are SMART!
p.getPatOnTheBack();
return true;
}
sometimes the best choice is the simple choice :P

even don't win, maybe help somebody win with the idea, maybe miss an background, but it's hard to do theses things on paint x.x :cool:
Trying a new filter.....

Just two of many iterations (PDF). I like the above the best I think.
The compacted source from which all iterations can be derived is here (Illustrator and SVG). It looks like this.
Or you know if it's more your speed then there's this too (edit: moved to spam thred)

and yes I made all parts of this banner, including the planet.
There was an expressed interest in a white+stroke rendition of this one:

and so here it is

Yeah.
I've made a logo for this contest.. I know it's nothing much, but i guess it's not the worst one. XCF can be posted.

Any suggestions?
It was actually about 10 hours straight from prototyping fonts and quote styles to the final designs. Which is pretty long when the final design is just the text <rizon> and a quote bubble saying "Where are you?" :/
edit: but then there are:
3 color iterations
3 bubble iterations
6 stroke iterations
2 caps iterations
3 text iterations
which leads to 324 possible logos
so i guess 10 hours is an alright time for creating 324 logos
edit2: there were about 10 different font considerations between the "Where are you?" text and the main "rizon" text. I settled on ProFont for "Where are you?" since it's arguably one of the best monospace fonts and most IRC clients default to various monospace fonts, and Myriad Pro for "rizon" because it's generally a great font, and extremely similar to Helvetica but offering a condensed typeface (which was used here).
See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myriad_(font)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ProFont
We will put every entry into a hat and draw one at random.
Since I'm always flying Rizon, I thought I could kill some time and contribute some.

It was supposed to look like a feather, but, eh, guess it looks more like fire, lol...
Anyway, besides this I made an slightly altered to also fit more on a transparent/bright background.

It's mostly vector art, so np to resize. Also looks ok in 256colors gif/png-8. Though these are png-24.
Someone suggested (outside of the forums) that I replace the O with the world.
