    Default Hide channels from others?

Rizon staff has been discussing the possibility of making a mode that is staff only a public mode. Currently user mode p is for staff only and hides the rooms you are in from others when they whois you. This is something many users have seen when whoising some of the staff as it is commonly set on our staff. We have had a few request for this from users and are considering making this a feature for anyone.

This mode helps avoid people you don't want following you from room to room. Or if you just in general don't want someone to know the rooms you are in.

I would like people to give their opinions on this. If it is something they want, don't want, or just don't care. Feel free to post your opinion.

"Staff only" is actually already too wide of a description, as it requires admin flag to be used

Ontopic: I don't see how it could hurt and it is a fact that plenty of users have been asking for it. In fact, setting +s on all channels you're in is a bother, and not even always possible.

That's my point exactly, channels that aren't +s would show up. However, usermode +p would hide ALL channel's you're in, regardless of being +s or not.

okay if it is desided to add umode +p to normal users then how long will it talk?

and what about adding a mode that allows you to see who is /whois' you, i know its really for IRCop's but i heard about a few people who are not IRCop's and they still can see who is /whois' them

Yes, please. Just make sure ALL opers can see +s channels on whois regardless of the user having +p set or not so it won't be harder to catch a ban evader etc if this will be changed. Not only would it make it less harder, but also a lot easier than the current situation as regular opers (>SO) without admin flags need to use GeoServ for viewing +s channels with and without umode +p.

I don't see any reason why not. If certain users have the preference to be anonymous on rizon, let them.

Honestly, I don't see the point in it.

The whole case for 'restoring' privacy is just silly. Channels are, and have always been, inherently public unless they've been set +s. If you don't want to be seen in a channel, then don't join it?

If you're attracting a lot of stalkers, then chances are it has to do with your behavior -- e.g. something you're doing.
