It was actually about 10 hours straight from prototyping fonts and quote styles to the final designs. Which is pretty long when the final design is just the text <rizon> and a quote bubble saying "Where are you?" :/
edit: but then there are:
3 color iterations
3 bubble iterations
6 stroke iterations
2 caps iterations
3 text iterations
which leads to 324 possible logos
so i guess 10 hours is an alright time for creating 324 logos
edit2: there were about 10 different font considerations between the "Where are you?" text and the main "rizon" text. I settled on ProFont for "Where are you?" since it's arguably one of the best monospace fonts and most IRC clients default to various monospace fonts, and Myriad Pro for "rizon" because it's generally a great font, and extremely similar to Helvetica but offering a condensed typeface (which was used here).
