I don't know about "6 feet"...
They did something on Mythbusters where they placed toothbrushes all over the house and found out after a month or so that just about all them were contaminated with fecal matter. I think they even put a cup over one of the toothbrushes, but there was still some residue on that from the toilet flush.
Writing this post made me lose my appetite.
I knew it was a good idea to keep my tooth brush out in the dog house!
