Is it normal for a vista os system to keep accessing
the hard drive.
I mean like constantly just doing something at the background and when nothing is runing.

It could be something similar to what happens to many XP users - auto updates. A process named SVChost runs the processor and drive hard while doing a system check for Windows Update.
If not...
Try using the Performance and Reliability Monitor (search the start menu for it), it will list disk activity by process. You can sort the list by Read/min then Writes/min to see if you can find which process may be causing your problem.
Just found out it was svhost doing it's thing.
Damn auto updates no more updating, no matter what windows says.
Any ideas on how to get rid of svhost or disable it.

svchost is a process that runs other system critical processes, it's even normal to have multiple of these.
After messing around with windows vista for a while i've finaly come to the conclusion.
That windows vista is rubbish. and the only way to fix this problem is burning the DvD.

Vista is rubbish... let me guess, you were running the 32 bit version on a PC with less than 4GB RAM? Ofcourse it's rubbish then, 32 bit vista is a joke. Vista is meant to be run 64 bit on 4GB RAM or more.
yea since you said its a rubbish you can definately throw yours away then i believe we the ones that is smart knows not to update it heh.
I've been using (preinstalled) Vista Home Premium 32bit on my laptop (an F3Sv which has 2GB RAM) for almost a year now. Had no problems whatsoever (and nothing like stuff mentioned in the first post). No problems running games like WoW, WiC, or WAR, as well. So I don't really think Vista32 is as bad as you picture it to be?..
