    Default lightIRC flash policy daemon

shot in the dark i suppose but i was wondering if rizon had a flash policy daemon for lightIRC, a flash-based irc client for browsers. i'm looking for an alternative to mibbit for my users who don't use clients, and lightIRC is quite nice, but it can't connect to servers that don't run a policy that allows it to connect.

if not, if you have a mibbit alternative that you like, please feel free to share.

Hi, unfortunately Rizon doesn't support lightIRC due to the necessary flash policy daemon.

An alternative to mibbit is our qchat instance running here: http://qchat.rizon.net. If you click on the icon on the top left of the qchat page, you'll see an option to embed it into your site.

Mibbit and qchat are really the only two truly good options, because they pass the true IP of the user to our servers, compared to other widgets which will serve as an open proxy for users, and be abused and likely banned as a result.

    Hi,

This is now supported on flash.rizon.net for the foreseeable future. If there are a significant amount of users using it we may allow it on irc.rizon.net eventually.

Hi there - as of this morning I've been unable to connect using lightirc (flash.rizon.net port 843).

I noticed this happened to people who were connected using lightirc:

[04:58:21] * dogster was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
    [04:58:21] * jag22 was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
[04:58:21] * cpotrader was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
[05:13:01] * Cisco was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
    [05:13:01] * ally09 was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)

Thanks in advance for any help!

p.s. the default error message displays on lightirc when trying to connect:

Flash policy problem. If you are the server owner, please read http://redmine.lightirc.com/projects...p_instructions. You need to install a flash policy daemon at irc.rizon.net (port 843).

Sorry the server it is hosted on rebooted and wasn't configured to automatically start the flash policy daemon. It has been fixed.

Hi again - the same thing happened a few hours ago - everyone on lightIRC got kicked off:

    [05:05:26] * Asa9 was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
    [05:05:26] * in6724i was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
[05:05:26] * Cisco was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
    [05:05:26] * jag22 was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
[05:05:26] * ciggie was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
    [05:05:26] * ally09 was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)
[05:05:26] * davidmyster was kicked by irc.rizon.sexy (Split rider)

Any chance to set up a prevention of this outside the normal netsplits?

    Cheers

The server rebooted (again) due to unforeseen problems. There is only one server serving flashirc currently. Maybe I can add some more.

Does your channel have a channel key or something? The "split rider" kick was a new "feature" to prevent people from riding the split into a channel with a key that they do not know. Perhaps its not as great of an idea as I thought it was.

    Hi Adam

Thanks for the reply. The channel does indeed have a key...was wondering what that rider message was. I have lightIRC autoconnect to the channel on Rizon when people log into my site, so they wouldn't have seen any error messages etc if there's a disconnect because they're hidden in the client.
It's been pretty reliable, but I guess due to the key this could happen again...

    Cheers again...
